If Dead Canyon are the ambassadors of “The Sonoran Sound” then we’re in for a spicy little treat coming from the Phoenix area.

Thumpy, modern grooves with roots that reach into various other genres but stay firmly planted in the soil of stoner metal. If ZZ Top got baked in the desert and started a punk side project with Jim Morrison and Tony Iommi, you’re halfway to where this band takes you sonically.

I would love to hear more out of Arizona simply because of them. And they’ve made quite a name for themselves in the familiar haunts of psychedelic rock we’ve all come to know and love.

Extremely listenable is the best short take on this band. If you’re going for a long car ride you should definitely put on Dead Canyon.
